We made it to Pensacola, Florida today. Our new home for 7 days is a little RV park on the Gulf of Mexico. Running around today we found a local hang out called Hub Stacey's. The food was great and we had a cat on the patio who joined us for lunch. He was very cute. We found the Naval Museum late in the day, so we'll be going back tomorrow to look around.
Will post some pictures when we have them. Watch for more posts.
The unexpected changes life gives us. Sometimes we make plans for our life to go in one direction and a storm comes along not of our making. It takes us off course and we find ourselves blazing a new trail. That's what this blog is about the changing course of our life.

Birds of Florida
Click here to see the slide show.
We found some beautiful birds while in Florida. I put together a slide show of some of Tom's best work. The Osprey with the fish was a bird we spotted while driving down the road. We saw it with the fish in it's talons trying to get to his nest.

Paradise on the Beach
We are leaving our little paradise on the beach tomorrow "Carrabelle Florida", to travel to Pensacola Florida. Upon arrival here we met some great people who are on their first voyage, Sheila and Jim. Sheila and I became friends and she is my first walking partner since this trip started. We walked through cold, wind, a little rain, and some beautiful warm days. Thanks Sheila for making the walks on the beach fun. Can't forget Tucker (their dog) watching him chase birds was great. The dogs all played on the beach.
Sheila and I... |
Tom and I went out yesterday and found Osprey, Bald Eagles and some other sea birds. We'll be posting some pictures when Tom gets them photoshopped!! (Is that a word??)
On to the next adventure. The Blue Angels and the Pensacola Naval Air base. Tom is very excited. I am sure his pictures will turn from wild birds flying to Navy Birds Flying. Look for the pictures coming soon...
Off to get the RV ready for travel.

Treasures on the beach
This is a beautiful tree garden I found walking on Carrabelle Beach. These trees grew in the sand at one time. Such a beautiful sight. |
This was a jelly like creature basking in the surf. It was amazing to see what the ocean keeps in her home. |
Natures Art. |
A close up of another jelly like creature. |

Visiting Florida
We are currently in Miami Florida. Since our last post we traveled to Daytona Beach for New Years and had a great time partying there. There was a street which had 5 bands, open bars, lots of dancing and too many people. It made for quite a night. We visited Daytona International Speedway and got to tour the facility. Tom was very excited.
After we left there we headed to see Mickey Mouse and his gang at Disney World. We plunked ourselves in Orlando for 10 days. About 3 days after we arrived we started our Disney World adventure and bought 4 days of passes to the parks. We thought it might not be too crowded with it being January. Well we were wrong because we happen to show up on the Disney Marathon weekend. So it was pretty well packed. Given we don't go to Disney much we didn't understand the whole speed pass thing at first and we thought it was like years ago with Tom being handicapped we could go in the exit and not wait in line. Unfortunately they still make you get a speed pass and wait. Big disappointment....
We visited Epcot first and loved it. We ate our way around the world which was fun but added a few pounds I am sure. The Animal Kingdom part was great, lots of wonderful animals to enjoy. We finally went to the Magic Kingdom and I have to say it wasn't Disneyland and I was a bit disappointed. There was a lot of construction and they had almost all of Fantasy Land closed. It was so crowded we could hardly walk around.
There was a Cirque Du Soleil there which we saw and loved.
Alas we left Orlando and headed to the Coast and a place called Malabar just south of Melbourne. With our RV site on US 1 we could see The Indian River which is part of the Atlantic Ocean. The traffic wasn't noisy or a bother at all. While there we went to Kennedy Space Center and got to see a Rocket blast off with a satellite on it. Too bad it was at night but seeing the glow was pretty cool.
After 2 weeks there we ventured back North to Titusville so Tom could attend a Wildlife and Bird Expo. He had 4 days of bird watching and we supposed to go on a 12 hour boat ride but it was cancelled because of weather.
Upon leaving Titusville we ventured South to Miami, which is were we are now. This is a very crowed City with lots of traffic. On Saturday the 4th we traveled down to Key West to spend the day and it was a glorious day. We sat and watched the boats come in and out while we ate lunch. We walked from the Gulf of Mexico to the Atlantic Ocean and saw Hemingway's House. Then Tom surprised me with a Bi Plane ride at sunset for my birthday. We flew over the ocean and waiting to sunset but it didn't materialize since the clouds got in the way. But it was a great ride all the same. We came back and hung out on Sunday which was a bit rainy.
We leave here on Thursday and head to Naples Florida then up the western coast....
More to come.... Pictures are coming. Tom is having issues with his storage drive right now.
