We are 8 days out from our closing. Our coach is still not here but hopefully tomorrow Tom will be going to pick it up in Bend Oregon and bring her home. It's been a bit of a circus to get it purchased. We have not seen it in person only from internet pictures. I am still a little shocked we bought it on ebay. Go figure !!
Hopefully great pictures to come...
The unexpected changes life gives us. Sometimes we make plans for our life to go in one direction and a storm comes along not of our making. It takes us off course and we find ourselves blazing a new trail. That's what this blog is about the changing course of our life.

So many things to consider
One big issue to consider when going on the road is the very thing to keep us connected. Internet....We have in motion satellite on the coach but service will be a little sketchy I am told. We will have certain number of down load and then we will be shut off until such time as our "bank account of down loads" gets replenished. I guess that means no more wondering aimlessly over the internet looking at silly news stories and insignificant information I don't really need to see any way, um like a blog spot....I hope not.
The changes keep coming the new lifestyle keeps us on our toes. Currently we are 19 days and counting. The truck is almost packed and we only have a bed, 2 TV's, our office furniture, a bed and the stuff going into the coach left. (Coach meaning Motorhome).

The Reality
The house is emptying out and the reality is setting in that this will not be our home anymore. In 3 weeks we will officially be living our 45' coach. Who knows where we will be and where we will wake up. This has been our home for 16 years. We have molded it into the place where we thought we thought we would live many more years but plans change and life does throw you curves you don't see coming.
The reality of it is the economy and politics did play a role in our decision to change course and move from California to take our business on the road so to speak. Tom can do his business of insurance adjusting from anywhere. Now with doing disaster claims as well we will go where the disaster occurs. So it justs makes sense for us.
We hope to meet some great and help some great people along the way.
For now I must get back to packing and stuffing the rest of this 1900 square foot house into a storage truck and motor coach....
More to come

It's official the house is in escrow
After a little negotiating we came to a deal on our house. We are in escrow as of Dec 23, we purchased a new car named "Toad" hence it's towed behind us. Our home inspection was Dec 27 and we came through with flying colors. The buyers are very happy. Escrow is set to close on February 4th, Lorraine's birthday. What a gift.
Now comes a crazy month of packing, downsizing and finding a new home (motorhome) so we are not homeless come Feb 1. I thought I would be more sad about leaving but truly I am not. There is so much to explore, people to meet and ways for me to grow while learning about myself I am so excited. I must say a little nervous about driving a 45' house on wheels down the 405 freeway to get out of town. That will be Tom's job.
I will miss our friends here a lot and hope to be back sometime to visit but not to live !!!

The beginning of our New Adventure
Our adventure is truly life changing. Tom and Lorraine are going from running 2 businesses to retiring, selling our home and rental property and hitting the open road. We have always wanted to see more the US and Canada with maybe a peek at Alaska. The plans have been set into motion and we are working on our goal of being on the road by Spring 2011.
As of today we are waiting on an offer to come on our primary home. Should come today. Then the real fun begins of setting every plan into motion.
We have purchased a truck to store our possessions we are keeping. There have been a few months of downsizing, selling, throwing away and giving away many items we just could not keep. Getting the house ready to sell and setting it for showing.
During this time Lorraine (me) had to have surgery on my foot to fix torn tendons and ligaments. Put a little delay in the plan while I could not walk for almost 3 months. Currently I am still on crutches till New Years 2011. We pushed on to get the house ready and we listed it.
Now we are looking for a motorhome to pack ourselves, our 2 dogs and 2 cats. This should be interesting. The dogs should be fine. We'll see about the cats.
Once we are on the road we plan to have updates on what is happening with us. Tom being the wonderful photographer he is there will be plenty of photos. So keep up with us and your comments are welcome anytime.
